ALIG is a registered NGO in India, working primarily on three verticals i.e. Education, Health & Emergencies and Skill.
EDUCATION
Support a School Program
Around 70% of children in India are enrolled in government schools. ALIG adopts innovative pedagogical techniques in government schools thus contributing to the UN sustainable development goals.
Digital Literacy
Technology's the future of education. In all its supported government schools, ALIG teachers educate and train students using digital platforms. Digital Literacy is a key component, in improving the quality of education in our programs.
Adult Literacy program
An initiative of government school students to introduce functional literacy to their parents. This program empowers adults to be literate using defined syllabus provided by ALIG.
Child Sponsorship Program (CSP)
CSP connects sponsors to the economically disadvantaged students. The idea is that needy and deserving students shouldn't discontinue education for financial reasons.
Coaching and Guidance
Designed to direct students towards meaningful careers, this program targets students at government schools where ALIG intervenes. It also targets Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.
School Libraries
To inculcate reading habits, stimulate curiosity and nurture students' inquisitive nature, ALIG sets up new and strengthens existing libraries in government schools with its intervention.
HEALTH AND EMERGENCY
Reproductive and Safe Health for Adolescents
Teaches adolescents about sexual & reproductive health and well-being. Targets couples for awareness on spacing methods and ARSH (Adolescent Reproductive & Sexual Health).
Environment
Promotes environmental awareness through workshops and activities like drawing, essay-writing, debates, etc. which explain ownership and responsibilities towards our environment.
Hygiene
Educates children on WASH (Water, Sanitation & Health), this program focuses to raise awareness about hygiene, handwashing, garbage disposal, drinking water, etc.
Ration Kits Distribution
During COVID-19 lockdown and the subsequent crisis, ALIG ensured a million meals to families of students of schools where ALIG intervenes. It established helplines attended by ALIG teachers.
SKILL
Stitching, Tailoring and Embroidery
Women and girls from the society's vulnerable sections are trained in stitching, tailoring & embroidery as a women empowerment initiative thus contributing towards identified UN sustainable development goals.
Digital Literacy
A step towards government's digital literacy mission, the women empowerment program aims to target school and college going girls for computer-related skills & training, enhancing job prospects.
Computer Hardware Training
Aims to empower girls & women to develop skills that open employment opportunities. They are trained to repair computers and become proficient in its usage.
Udyami
A self-help group, Udyami is a women empowerment initiative which helps develop entrepreneurship in women who graduate from ALIG's inhouse skill training programs.
