What is an NGO?

एनजीओ क्या है?

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are independent institutions that work on social causes without government control. These organizations work in various fields such as education, health, poverty alleviation, environmental protection, human rights, and disaster relief.

गैर-सरकारी संगठन (एनजीओ) वे संस्थाएँ होती हैं जो सरकार से स्वतंत्र होकर सामाजिक कार्यों में लगी होती हैं। ये संगठन शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य, गरीबी उन्मूलन, पर्यावरण संरक्षण, मानवाधिकार, आपदा राहत आदि क्षेत्रों में कार्य करते हैं।

World NGO Day

विश्व एनजीओ दिवस

World NGO Day is celebrated annually on February 27th. It was first officially recognized on April 17, 2010, during the 'IX Baltic Sea NGO Forum' by 12 member countries. The day was formally adopted in 2012 and was first celebrated by the United Nations in 2014. This initiative was credited to British social entrepreneur 'Marscis Liars Skadmanis', who inaugurated the day in 2014. The purpose is to raise awareness about NGO contributions and honor their tireless efforts.

विश्व एनजीओ दिवस हर साल 27 फरवरी को मनाया जाता है। यह पहली बार 17 अप्रैल 2010 को 'IX बाल्टिक-सी एनजीओ फोरम' में 12 सदस्य देशों द्वारा आधिकारिक रूप से मान्यता प्राप्त किया गया था। इस दिन को 2012 में औपचारिक रूप से अपनाया गया और 2014 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा पहली बार मनाया गया। इस पहल का श्रेय ब्रिटिश सामाजिक उद्यमी 'मार्सिस लायर्स स्काडमैनिस' को जाता है, जिन्होंने 2014 में इस दिन का उद्घाटन किया था। इसका उद्देश्य एनजीओ के योगदान के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाना और उनके अथक प्रयासों को सम्मानित करना है।
